WorldCat Resource Sharing Borrowing
This workshop focuses on the basic procedures needed to create and manage an ILL borrowing request on OCLC’s WorldCat Resource Sharing (WCRS) service. Topics include an overview of the FirstSearch interface, the basic ILL cycle, creating Constant Data records, creating ILL borrowing requests, and simple management of ILL requests. WorldCat Resource Sharing Lending
This workshop focuses on the procedures needed to respond to an ILL request through the OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing (WCRS) service. Topics include a review of the basic ILL cycle, the options for responding to requests using the Request Manager, and how to set-up the administrative features that support lending. WorldCat Resource Sharing Basics In-Person Workshop
Course description: This on-site course of WorldCat Resource Sharing Basics consists of a full-day in computer lab. There is a supporting web site included.
Topics covered will include:
- Searching the FirstSearch interface
- The basic ILL cycle
- Responsibilities of Lenders and Borrowers
- Identifying holding libraries
- Setting up Constant Data
- Creating and sending requests
- Using IFM
- Basic copyright compliance procedures
- Simple management of ILL requests
- Using the ILL policies directory
WorldCat Resource Sharing Tricks In-Person Workshop
Course description: This course will improve staff's efficiency using the OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing system for ILL. Emphasis is on advanced techniques, new features and upcoming enhancements, including but not limited to:
- Custom Holdings
- Direct Request Profiles for patron initiated ILL
- Multiple Constant Data
- ILL Policies and Deflection
- Registry
- Statistics
The on-site course will consist of a full day in computer lab of learning and doing. There is a supporting web site included for after class reminders.
