Knowledge Unlimited, Inc. is an independent education company in Madison: www.knowledgeunlimited.com. They publish two weekly online current events-based programs.
NewsCurrents Online is their weekly current events discussion program. Subscribers receive 34 issues during the school year making it easy for teachers to talk with students about national and international news stories.
Each issue includes a teacher's guide (written on three levels for grades 3-12) and images (photos, maps, charts, quotes, etc.). Teachers use these two components to lead ACTIVE, DYNAMIC discussions about news stories from all over the world and the U.S., as well as developments in science, the arts, sports, and cultural history.
Also featured: interactive polls, regular features like This Week in History, Country of the Week, and our weekly/yearly editorial cartoon focus.
Read to Know is a weekly online news magazine. This program uses the same basic material as NewsCurrents Online every week, but re-formats it so that students READ the stories every week. After every story, students can take a self-correcting comprehension quiz, and answer inferential "thought questions" for writing assignments in class."
