Originally scheduled for this week, the election for Peer Council chair/chair-elect and secretary positions will be held in about 2 weeks in order to prepare candidates' statements. The slate is slightly different from the last announcement:

• OCLC launches WorldCat Blog
The new WorldCat Blog is designed to be a fun spot to read about what’s happening on WorldCat.org and to share cool ways that people are using the site in their libraries.
The team at WorldCat.org is working on new social and Web 2.0 tools to allow you to make the most of WorldCat. They hope that you will share your ideas and lessons learned as well. Learn more at the WorldCat blog.

• View presentations from the WorldCat Selection Users Group meeting
Recordings of the presentations given during the WorldCat Selection Users Group meeting at the American Library Association meeting in Philadelphia on January 12, 2008, are now available for viewing on the OCLC Web site.
The presentations include a WorldCat Selection overview (provided by David Whitehair from OCLC), a vendor perspective (provided by Ann-Marie Breaux from YBP), and a library implementation (provided by Katharine Farrell and Janet Lute from Princeton University).
WorldCat Selection allows selectors to view records from multiple vendors in one system and acquisitions staff to output WorldCat MARC records to load into your Integrated Library System to complete the ordering process.

•Connexion Client end of life
The end of life date for Connexion client version 1.70, 1.72 and 2.00 is April 1, 2008. Starting on April 1, logons will be disabled in version 1.70, 1.72 and 2.00. Users are asked to upgrade to version 2.10 as soon as possible.
Users of the Connexion browser will not be affected.

• Promoting Virtual Reference Services on (and off) Campus
On Tuesday, March 18, 10:30 a.m. — 11:30 a.m., join a discussion of successful methods for promoting virtual reference services in academic libraries. Experts will share their techniques for capturing the attention of their students, both on and off campus.

• Second Midwest Interlibrary Loan Conference
The Dubuque Area Library Information Consortium (DALINC) is hosting this conference at Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa, Friday, April 11, 2008. The conference will offer presentations on current ILL issues, and will also provide roundtables for networking among staff from all types of libraries.
Topics will include copyright, software, wikis, blogs, working within a tight budget, customer service, and work flow.
