FAX ONLY
The
WiLS E-Doc service requires an Internet connection. If you don't have
an Internet connection you can still receive documents electronically
via Fax. However, you should keep in mind that Fax quality is not as
good as E-Doc. This lower quality is due to the format in which Faxes
are transmitted, and cannot be remedied by buying better Fax equipment.
Therefore, in some cases, WILS will not transmit an item via Fax, because
the text, illustrations or photographs in the original are either too
small or not clear enough to "survive" Faxing.

Currently, WiLS E-Doc software is not capable of independently transmitting items to other libraries. If you are interested in being able to send materials, you must purchase Ariel. (You also need to have a scanner available.) We can supply WiLS E-Doc software to you if you wish. This will enable you to offer the same kind of e-mail notification/Web pickup service to libraries that we do. Contact Tom Zillner (tzillner@wils.wisc.edu) for details. If you have an Ariel workstation, we are equipped at WiLS to provide your documents via Ariel.
If
you want to receive documents electronically, do not currently plan to
send documents electronically, and you have an Internet connection available,
WiLS E-Doc is for you.
