ILL Overview
The Interlibrary Loan service was established in 1972 by a consortium of Wisconsin libraries. Initially, the service was a means to get direct and quick access to the materials in the UW-Madison collections, and later was used to facilitate access to each other's collections.
The Interlibrary Loan service is available to the WiLS Service Levels One and Two. For member libraries, we will access the UW-Madison campus libraries to fill requests or, if directed, refer requests to libraries beyond campus. WiLS also provides members with a newsletter, back-up reference service, verification assistance, workshops, consulting, discount rates for commercial services, and a 24-hour rush service for UW-Madison campus materials called Request Express.
