Significant changes in the WiLS partnership with OCLC taking effect July 1st 2009 give WiLS the opportunity to offer a new range of services for members. After much conversation with library groups and with individual library leaders we have identified a variety of new services described in the attached document. We believe there is something for everyone — Workflow analysis for technical services, Enhancements to Cooperative Purchasing, Web design and maintenance, Planning/Group Facilitation, ILLiad Support, and Business Intelligence. We will continue to sponsor conferences, training and related events. WiLS ILL will remain unchanged. We will continue to be responsible for OCLC billing, marketing and order assistance.
What does this mean for your library?
WiLS Membership will offer three service levels. Institutions should choose the level that best meets their needs.
Service Level 3: is for institutions that license databases through the WiLS Cooperative Purchasing Program. (comparable to the current "Basic" Membership) FY10 Fee: $185
Service Level 2: is for institutions that wish to use WiLS ILL/Reference Service in addition to WiLS Cooperative Purchasing (comparable to current "Resource Sharing Membership") FY10 Fee: $500
Service Level 1: is for institutions that wish to make use of the full menu of New WiLS Services as well as ILL/Reference and Cooperative Purchasing. (We will continue to offer Group Pricing at this service level.) Annual fees for this level will be based on size and type of library; however, the goal is to keep this cost lower than current Full Members are paying in surcharge.
There will be no membership level or fee associated with use of OCLC services nor will be there be any WiLS Surcharge on OCLC products and services.
Within the next few weeks we will be sending you a new WiLS Membership Agreement and asking you to choose one of the above Service Levels. We will include the cost for Service Level 1 for your institution. Please email questions to: schneid at wils.wisc.edu
