Keynote: Offer a Library Service That Will Win Users' Hearts! PDF
Zheng Ye (Lan) Yang, Texas A & M University Document Delivery
In June 2002 the Texas A&M University Libraries implemented a new document delivery service called deliverEdocs. We began to offer free desktop delivery of any articles, book chapters up to 50 pages, even those found on our own Libraries shelves to our entire campus library patrons (about 50,0000 customers). The service was well appreciated by our users. The presentation will reveal the initial reactions of the staff members in face of the challenge, discuss the resources needed to provide such a high profile service, detail the workflow of the operation, share the positive comments from the patrons, relate staff's current attitudes of the services offered, and illustrates the five key factors to the success of this well appreciated service.

The OCLC Effect
PDF
Mark Beatty
We'll talk about what's new, what's different, and what's the same-old, same-old OCLC. Of course there will be information on enhancements to WorldCat Resource Sharing and ILLiad, but also more on WorldCat.org and Local and Quick Start and their relationships to Resource Sharing. We'll talk about where to go to learn more and discover training opportunities. Most importantly it's your chance to ask questions galore. |

Globe University Building a Library PDF
Cynthia Bachhuber
Have you ever wondered what the librarians were thinking when they set up your library? Ever wished you could start at square one and create your idealized space? When Cynthia Bachhuber walked into the library on her first day as the Campus Librarian at Globe University she found empty shelves and an opportunity to act out that wish. In this session, Cynthia will share her experience "building" a library.
CRL
Bob Shaw
One of the advantages of being a WiLS ILL member is having access to the collections of the Center for Resource Libraries (CRL). CRL is a consortium of North American universities, colleges and independent research libraries. Bob Shaw of WiLS will provide a roadmap to CRL’s collection.
Custom Holdings and Paths
Jeff Brunner
In June of 2009, the Cofrin Library at UW-Green Bay completed a major overhaul of their WorldCat Resource Sharing Custom Holdings. By re-organizing its custom holdings paths and groups, UW-GB was able to significantly streamline its borrowing process. In this session Jeff Brunner will talk about how he did it using just a little bit of Excel and WRS know-how. |
