Staff Engagement: Discovering a Path to Success slides
Jo Ann Carr, Director of UW-Madison CIMC

Engaging all levels of staff in planning, communicating, and community building enables the U.W. Madison’s Center for Instructional Materials and Computing (CIMC) to successfully meet the needs of its clients. This engagement has resulted in the development of a facility that elicits love (and cookies) from its patrons and a joyful workplace for its staff. This program will review our strategies for creating a joyful workplace from logs to blogs, from memos to enotes, and from bulletin boards to facebook entries. From the white board at the entrance created by the students, to the displays developed by graduate assistants, to instructional programs collaboratively developed by all staff, this emphasis on shared program development has resulted in a client responsive environment. Program participants will be encouraged to share their secrets for creating a culture of staff engagement.

Rapid ILL
slides 1 and slides 2
Eric Robinson, WiLS and Heather Weltin, UW-Madison

RapidILL is a revolutionary method of delivering articles. As a result of a catastrophic flood at Colorado State in 1997, RapidILL was developed to address the need for articles in a 24-hour timeframe on a journal deprived campus. The software continues to be supported through an ever-growing core of ARL and public library systems with a continued commitment to 24-hour turnaround. Eric and Heather will briefly discuss the basic use of RapidILL on the borrowing and lending sides of the software.

Odyssey Standalone
slides
Bob Shaw and Allen Wenzel, WiLS

Odyssey standalone is a free electronic document delivery software developed by Atlas systems, the developer of ILLiad. Most ILLiad libraries use Odyssey as their document delivery software but you do not have to use ILLiad in order to use Odyssey standalone. There are currently 300 libraries nationwide that use Odyssey, including the following Wisconsin libraries: all the UWs, Marquette University, and St. Norbert. Allen and Bob will demonstrate how to implement Odyssey standalone and how you might use it in your daily workflow.
