| The
Pieces Were Brought Together...
This one-day conference was held
to discuss coordinating access to Wisconsins
digitized historical resources. One overarching
objective was to identify options for linking
of the various digital library collections
within the state. This was also an opportunity
to discuss methods for promoting broad public
awareness of digital resources and for attracting
future funding.
Questions that were addressed included:
What is the best way to facilitate collaboration
across the statewithin
the library community and within the wider
community of cultural institutions? How do we avoid duplication in digital projects? How can we assure best practices in capturing content and creating metadata?
How do we make sure that digitized content is readily available and
easy to find for the typical information seeker?
Desired outcomes included a consensus on value
of collaboration; creation of steering committee
for further planning; and, creation of working
groups on training needs, metadata standards,
registry or inventory of current/future projects.
