Felice got her start in libraries working as a student assistant "shifter" at Memorial Library on the UW campus. She also worked in various LTE and classified staff positions at Memorial and the former Middleton Libraries. Felice worked as a Circulation Librarian at Purdue University and as the Head of Access Services at Tulane University in New Orleans. She left New Orleans just in the nick of time, two weeks prior to Katrina, to take the library directorship at St. Norbert College. There she oversaw the planning, construction, and move to the state-of-the-art Mulva Library. She has two beautiful daughters, Ariela and Leah, one dog, Phoebe Buffet, and a collection of over 150 nativity sets from around the world. She is enjoying the view from the 15th floor of Van Hise and is delighted to be back in Madison. She is located in 1502 Van Hise, and can be contacted at 890-2208. Her email is fmaciejewski@uwsa.edu.

Billing Tips of the Month
2010-2011 Level 3 WiLS Memberships billed
The Level 3 WiLS Memberships, effective September 1, 2010—August 30, 2011, have been invoiced to deposit accounts and open invoice accounts, where applicable. Level 3 WiLS Membership allows your institution librarians to take advantage of the discounts the WiLS Cooperative Purchasing (Coop) Department offers for databases and other library products.
Deposit account Level 3 invoices were posted to accounts on September 9, 2010 and will not be mailed. They are, however, printable online, by logging into you My WiLS Account, myaccount.wils.wisc.edu/Login.aspx
Open invoices were mailed last week to institution contacts on file with WiLS. Please approve for payment upon receipt and forward to your Accounts Payable Department for payment to WiLS.
Deposit Account Replenishments
Replenish invoices have been emailed to all institutions that have gone below a zero balance in their deposit account. Please approve and submit these invoices for payment to WiLS, as soon as possible. WiLS is carrying your balance when your account goes below zero, as WiLS has already paid OCLC your current charges. Deposit account balance that have been negative for 90 days, will be assessed finance charges by WiLS and will be reported to OCLC as a delinquent account. WiLS appreciates your effort to keep a positive balance in your deposit account at all times.
We are working through the list of deposit accounts that have not yet replenished for FY11. If your institution is in need of a replenish invoice from WiLS and you have not yet received one, please email schenning@wils.wisc.edu or call 608-263-5051 with your requests or questions.

Dogs of Wisconsin Libraries Dog of the Month
The Dog of the Month is Opus, a Basenji, who's the companion of Jeff Dawson, The Director of Lester Public Library in Two Rivers. Opus, and her brother, Milo (who will be added to the collection any day now) are named after Bloom County characters. Jeff says that "Opus is a delight! She is an independent girl who loves hanging with her pack and likes to curl up with her humans and reads whatever her pack is into at the time."

College of Menominee Nation Library awarded IMLS grant for digitization
Congratulations to the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin and the Special Collections Department of the College of Menominee Nation Library for their recent receipt of a Native American Library Services Enhancement Grant from IMLS. The library will work with Wisconsin Heritage Online to catalog and digitize a large collection of rare and historically significant archival materials, many related to the story of the Menominee Tribe's struggle for sovereignty from 1954-1974.
Newest Wisconsin Heritage Online (WHO) collection: Preservation Racine, Inc.
Since 1976, Preservation Racine, Inc. has published a newsletter documenting historic preservation efforts in Racine County as well as the organization's annual Tour of Historic Buildings and Century Homes events. Archivist Anna Stadick of the UW-Parkside Archives and Area Research Center facilitated the scanning of the newsletters by UW-Parkside students and Sharon Baldukas, Preservation Racine's historian, assigned metadata for each issue. The digital collectioon was developed with support from Wisconsin Heritage Online under the Nicholas Family Foundation Outreach and Training Grant and is hosted by the Milwaukee Public Library. |

OCLC Research Distinguished Seminar Series Presentation Mobilizing Usage Data: Scholarly Metrics and Recommender Systems
Friday, 22 October 2010
Johan Bollen
Associate Professor
Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing
Overview of Presentation
Scholarly communication has become increasingly mediated by online services. The usage logs of these services have opened new possibilities for scholarly impact assessment and advanced services to support scholarship. In this presentation, Johan Bollen will present the outcomes of two distinct lines of research related to the mobilization of large-scale, scholarly usage data.
First, Bollen will provide an overview of the MESUR project which started in 2006 with the support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
Second, Bollen will discuss the possibility of novel services to support digital scholarship on the basis of large-scale, near real-time usage data.
