WiLS Hour: Koha in Wisconsin, choosing an Open Source ILS (Recording)
Featured speakers: Rick Hren, Head of Technical Services, Carthage College
and Vicki Teal Lovely, Software Applications Supervisor, South Central Library System
Carthage has already implemented Koha and Rick talked about how and why they went about choosing
an open source ILS, including creating criteria, compiling a list of open source vendors, creating a team
to evaluate, the contract, the data migration, system check, and solving outstanding issues.
(presentation slides pdf)
SCLC is currently working on their contract with Koha so Vicki reported on the differences between
a migration with a traditional ILS vendor and open source vendor and how they navigated
the LibLime development information. (presentation slides pdf)
In addition we sneaked in a demo of Koha in action (see LibLime demos)
and showed how to check out open demos.
